Rictor
Other Personality Notes:
Emotional State:
“Rictor--you’ve been
hiding behind the tough-guy act for so long that you’ve
buried our insecurities and doubts so deep they’re like a
festering cancer now.”- Danielle Moonstar
~Rictor is an insanely complex guy if you take an actual
look at him. He usually hides his true self with a macho
attitude or random outbursts. He’s all about the avoidance
of issues, and does his best to deter the point of focus
from him. He loves helping people he cares for with their
problems, but doesn’t show the same enthusiasm for his own
issues. He lacks self confidence, but has a bit of an ego in
order to cover it up.
~When things get bad for Julio, he usually wants to leave it
all behind by either running away, or trying to kill
himself. When Rahne dumped him after X-tinction Agenda, he
took off, though it was to find her, he did not return for
awhile. Other incidents include when The Right had him for
the second time, and all he wanted to do was die. He
considered it a better fate than having to deal with them,
and he nearly killed himself and Tabitha to get away. She
convinced him not to, but the issue was never brought up
afterwards. Recently, in X-factor (volume 3), Rictor was
perched up on a building ledge ready to jump off and die
because not having his abilities anymore was too much for
him to take. Again, he was talked out of it; this time by
Rahne and a dupe of Madrox.
~Issue 13 of X-factor(Volume 3) is when all the members go
for a therapy session, and it’s revealed that since his
power loss, Rictor has good and bad days. Good days for him
are only when he’s too busy to notice, while bad days are
musings as to why it had to happen to him. Julio owns up to
this, indicating that he still holds clear devastations of
his power loss, despite the time that has gone by. During
this issue, he avoids questions and snaps when Doc Samson
calls him “Julio”, saying that they’re not friends. Samson
tries to get some responses from him, but Julio is all about
ignoring his issues, and he tries to take off.
~In newer
issues of X-factor, Rictor has been displaying some odd
behaviour. Though he is known for having a large dislike for
guns, he has been shown using them despite his fear.
Has he lost it? Probably.
Quirks:
~Julio has the tendency to completely spaz over the littlest
things if he’s feeling left out, unimportant, or just mad.
~When Ric cares about someone, he‘s very loyal to them.
He’ll follow them to the ends of the earth, and sacrifice
everything for them. He’s a hopeless romantic, whether he
admits it or not.
~ Is a bad cook
~He's a little
paranoid. Gee, who'd he get that from?
~He’s secretly a giant dork, but actually has no idea. He
just thinks he’s suave.
~He loves it when people live through misfortune, or
authority types are being bossed around.
~Julio is a pretty big asshole when he wants to be, and he’s
got quite a mouth.
~Julio shows a great dislike, and even fear towards guns.
Family:
Rictor’s family is a big one, and due to that, most of his
family members remain unnamed. His family ran a gun
business, “selling death”, of which was passed down to
younger generations. His father, and his uncle were both
killed due to incidents within the business, and he sent a
lot more relatives off to jail. Rictor made it his mission
when he left X-force to right all the wrongs his family had
done, and with ‘Star helping him, the two were quite
successful. Though it is unrevealed what the exact fate of
that was.
Julio’s family is a weak spot for him, and his father’s
death still haunts him to this day. He has mentioned that he
doesn’t think he’s better than his family, only that he’s
trying to be. In a recent issue of X-factor, he talks to one
of the men X-factor helps, and mentions that the man is
father of the year because he "hasn't been killed" or "sold
anyone out." Clearly, Julio still feels quite deeply about
what happened with his own father, even after many, many
years.
