Early Life:
Julio’s family was in the business of gun running, so his childhood was not the happiest. He was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and resided there until the age of thirteen. When he was a child, he was held captive in Costa Rica with his father due to an “oversight of a most accidental nature”. They remained in prison for a few days until they were released by a man his father had dealings with.

When he was six years old, Julio’s family was attacked by Stryfe due to a misdealing in their business. He and his cousin, Omar watched from the windows as their family tried to deal with the man, but in the end, lost. Louis Richter was killed by a bullet ricocheting off Stryfe and into his head. For many years, Julio thought the killer to be Cable and often dreamt of this incident.

When he was thirteen, Julio either ran away or was directly taken from his home by the terrorist organization known as ‘The Right’, after his powers surfaced. This part of his past is cloudy, as both have been stated in X-factor and X-force. No matter how he was taken from Mexico, he was brought to San Francisco. He was tortured by various machines, and made to funnel out his abilities for destructive purposes. He was quickly rescued by X-factor when he was being forced to bring down the city, and they brought him to their base of operations before he did any real damage.
